Last Listing description (September 2022)

Originally built in the 1890's as a pickers cottage for the orchards that thrived in this area of Blackheath this cottage is an absolute charmer.
And charm it has in abundance, there is a lot to like here, and a lot of it is not immediately apparent, but look closer and all will be revealed.
This home is a bit like an onion, peel back the layers and the true delights are revealed.

Under the exterior cladding are lovely original weatherboards, internally the walls were clad in Masonite, as was the fashion in the 1920's, but under the Masonite panels are the original Baltic pine lining boards and the ceilings in the lounge and second bedroom were lowered in the past too to make the house easier to heat.
The great thing is that the original ceilings are still there so the opportunity to restore the rooms to their original volumes is simply a matter of removing the false ceilings!
The lovely original Baltic pine floors have been beautifully polished too and throw in the 1000m2 oversized block and walk to town location and you have a bit of a perfect storm.
