Last Listing description (October 2020)

Holiday house walking distance to Washerwomans and Bendalong boat ramp with FREE WIFI.

This stylish 3 br cottage is more like a home than a holiday house, it has everything you need.

The perfect beach house'... 'fabulously appointed'... '5 out of 5'... these are just a few of the ways our guests have described Driftwood. The house looks like just another retro beach weekender from the front but step inside and a spacious, relaxing modern home awaits.

Driftwood is walking distance to many idyllic beaches. The nearest is the family-friendly Washerwoman's Beach which is such a great learn-to-surf beach that former World Champ Pam Burridge often runs lessons there. The well known surf break at Backbeach (aka Inyadda) and boat ramp are also walking distance - or a short drive for those wanting to conserve energy for surfing or fishing.

A 5 minute drive will take you to the legendary Green Island surf break and Cunjurong Point at the entrance to Lake Conjola where the kids (and adults) will enjoy the tranquil waters. There is also the "Hidden Beach" which appears at low tide for a swim or just to take in the spectacular view.

Wildlife abounds with kangaroos often visiting the backyard. There are rainbow lorikeets and king parrots in the trees, a bower bird hideout nearby and you can watch the stingrays hanging out at the boat ramp.

The house sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms - a mini parent's retreat Queen bedroom with ensuite, a second bedroom with Queen bed and third bedroom with a single on top/double on bottom bunk bed.

Driftwood's two living areas ensure there's space for everyone and the large, landscaped backyard is the perfect place for a long lazy lunch or for the kids to run around and do some exploring. There is also an outdoor shower in a tropical setting complete with hot water!

Bendalong itself is a charming hamlet of traditional weekenders with a general store that sells everything from petrol to beer. There is also Oscar's cafe which serves up traditional coastal take-away fare - the hot chips are delicious. Driftwood is walking distance to both the General Store and Oscar's.

Bendalong is a 3 hour drive from Sydney with the drive improving all the time as the Princes Highway gets upgraded - the dual carriageway through South Nowra was completed in December 2013 which removed a major bottleneck.

Surrounding attractions

A scenic 25 minute drive away is the charming village of Milton which is has some interesting stores - a special treat is the Revival furniture store and the old-time toy shop but there are plenty of other great stores.

Ulladulla is just past Milton where you will find traditional shopping including supermarkets, Target and Bunnings. There is also a cinema and other activities if you are looking for a change of pace from the beach - or an escape from bad weather. Our family enjoys Funland which is an 1980s style video and fun arcade with reasonable prices.

On the coast between Ulldaulla and Milton is Mollymook which is best-known for its beach (including South Mollymook patrolled beach). It also has some great restaurants including the renowned Rick Stein's at Bannisters. Mollymook has a choice of Golf Courses with a coast-hugging 9 hole course and the Hilltop 18 hole championship course.

Pigeon House Mountain is a bit further afield for the more adventurous - it is a tough but rewarding hike with spectacular views of the coast.

A 30-40 minute drive north takes you to Jervis Bay where there are dolphin and whale tours, the world famous Hyams Beach and the Greenpatch picnic area (albeit we far prefer the local beaches).
