"The way our home is laid-out means our family of six has a lot of space to be themselves and do their own thing. A separate double garage, two outdoor entertaining areas, a huge backyard and a private front garden give us lots of room for hobbies and entertaining. With the master suite at the opposite end of the house to the kids with its own living room, we have a quiet sitting area for when we want some space from the kids. Conversely, the family room and study area coming straight off the open kitchen means we can all be together while we're making breakfast, lunches and dinners.

The location of the house means we're only a short walk to the local shops and a five-minute drive to Belconnen town centre, all the schools and the University of Canberra. Our street is closed and our house is set back from the road with a private garden at the front and double glazed windows throughout, so it's very quiet. With reverse cycle ducted air conditioning/heating, instant hot water and double glazing we're comfortable all year and we never run out of hot water.

I think my favourite thing is that it's just a very calm retreat from the world for all of us. Quiet, light and spacious there's room for all six of us to be together or alone depending on what we feel like doing. With the built-in study area it's also very easy for both of us to work from home when we need to and that has also been a massive bonus in recent times."
