In 1962 Edgar's was a corner grocery shop, there was a butcher named Gordon, and the Ainslie Supermarket / Milk Bar was about to be purchased by Nick and Alice Xyrakis. North Ainslie was taking shape, Duffy street was an extension of the original McIlwraith Street and the local bus service used to turn around at the top of Tyson Street.
It was also in 1962 that Trevor and Joan Boucher began laying the foundations for their new family home. It was a privately built home, costing a total of 5030 pounds at the time, built by C H Webb Brothers. Two generations, four children, 13 grandchildren and three extensions saw the home grow as the family did.

For over 50 years the Boucher family has shared this beautiful place together. They have celebrated, loved and lost, and treasured the beautiful features that make this home special. Gorgeous solid oak timber floors and large windows invite light filled living spaces. Modern renovations and extensions in the 60's and 70's have seen colour splashed throughout the kitchen and bathrooms with stylish coloured vanity, bath and cabinetry.
From the bird's eye view the block is revealed, the huge plot scattered with shady established trees, lawn, vegetable garden, chooks, sheds and all the key elements that make up an 'essential Ainslie' property. The location was premium in 1962 as much as it is now, the close proximity to the city and bush surrounds has always been the appeal of living in Ainslie.
The stories from the family are plentiful, the love for their home is heart felt, the potential for the next owner is waiting to be fulfilled.
