It also doesn't require any steel to be used, instead relying completely on clever joinery and timber pegs to hold the joints in place.These particular timbers were salvaged from windfall Stringybark trees on a farm not too far away from the property.

Along with the Roof trusses, there are over 10 other species of feature timber to admire, most notably, 'Wormy Terpentine' from Appleton Dock, Port Melbourne circa. 1920's (Door panels), Recycled Granite Island Causeway decking (trundle ladder, bathroom vanity unit), Recycled Jarrah from water tower beams, Victor Harbor (floating shelves). The external cladding is predominantly Siberian Larch, traditionally charred in the Japanese fashion 'Shou Sugi Ban'. Over 1500 hand-driven Copper nails fix the cladding boards into place, complimented by solid copper flashings and copper painted window hoods.

In consideration of occupant health, quality natural materials have been used. Brass, Bronze, Copper, Timber and Stone are all on display to be appreciated. Micro-cement bench-tops add to the minimalist beauty. The Lime-based painted walls and ceiling, as well as the olive-derived concrete sealer on the floors ensure no harmful off-gassing occurs.
