This is a special and unique property with absolutely fantastic sea views and private Beach access. I am not aware of anywhere else in Australia where a spacious full 1 ACRE Beachfront property with two separate fully furnished and fully coded 3-bedroom houses is available for purchase at less than cost price and so close to a major tropical city such as Darwin. Where else can you work in the city (8 direct kms away) and live on a tropical beachfront property (and also have a significant rental income) all for the price of an urban house in Darwin.
Each house is distinctly special and I have chosen to refer to them as "The Beach House" and "The Windmill House". Both houses are fully furnished, airconditioned throughout with ceiling fans in all rooms and the louvred windows can be opened to allow the "all-year round" refreshing sea-breezes to circulate. There are also large spacious inbuilt wardrobes and drawers in all bedrooms and large inbuilt cupboards throughout both houses. And the large verandahs are great for outdoor dining and enjoyment. As both houses are elevated, there is the additional bonus of having cool, shaded and very spacious fully paved under-house areas for outside relaxation and to enjoy a BBQ with family and friends. Both houses also have undercover parking spaces. Furthermore, both houses have been built with sufficient elevation that will readily allow future under-house room extensions if required (they meet building code minimum height requirements).
The 1 acre property has beautiful white sandy Imaluk Beach on its doorstep and tidal Imaluk Creek (with mudcrabs, mangrove jacks and barramundi) just a one-minute stroll away (see attached photos). And of course, there are the incredible ochre-red beach sunsets, great beachcombing, fishing (creek and beach) and crabbing opportunities, just a few steps away via a personal and direct beach access walkway. The property is well-shaded and has constant refreshing sea breezes throughout the year. A prolific variety of resident birdlife, grazing wallabies and turtles nesting on the beach make this a nature lovers' haven. Yes, this property is quite special and imagine chilling out here every day. Make every day a beach day!
I originally bought the vacant land in 2010 and completed the construction of the two houses in 2017 at a cost of considerably more than the current asking price. I am now motivated to sell, retire and start doing some travelling. All the hard work has been done and it's now time for someone else to enjoy the property, the beach and the lifestyle just as I have done. I love it here and so will you. Being fully furnished, just move in and start living your dream.
The Wagait Beach/Mandorah community (population about 500) is steadily growing as more people realise it is Darwin's best-kept secret. The village is safe (no crime here), the community spirit is great and our friendly locals will go out of their way to help each other and are especially welcoming to newcomers. We have an active local council who facilitate many public events and we have a community-help 'facebook page' and many local special interest groups are active in the community. Most locals commute to work on the 12-minute ferry ride to Cullen Bay in Darwin and then come home to relax on the beach at Wagait Beach village.
Construction of the major and modern $75M Mandorah Marine Facility (including ferry terminal with disability access floating pontoon) is well underway and is already increasing buyer interest in Wagait Beach.
And with two houses both with direct street frontage on 1 acre (over 4,000 sq m), this property is ready-made for future subdivision potential as greater Darwin continues to expand.
The block has a registered potable water bore with an iconic traditional 'Comet' windmill that feeds the water tanks for both houses, so you'll never run out of water. There is also rooftop solar panel electricity (the excess electricity is sold back into the mains power grid to reduce the power bill) and a modern "grey water" aerated septic treatment system that waters the 'bowen mango' trees. The property is truly environmentally friendly. NBN fixed wireless is separately connected to each house and there is excellent 4G coverage at the property. Out front of both houses is a fully sealed bitumen street frontage and there are separate private driveways to each house.
The local free govt school bus offers 'door-to-door' pickup and drop-off to and from the ferry which then arrives at Cullen Bay (Darwin) in time to meet all Darwin school bus connections. The Cox Country Club (open Thursday to Sunday) is a 150m stroll down the road where our friendly community minded locals and visitors catch-up for meals and drinks, with regular family style live music entertainment a weekend bonus.
